How would you describe co-workers?

Admirable, friendly, helpful, and smart. They have taught me a great deal and have helped me through tough times.

How was Japan in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

Japan is as I have imagined; the food is great, the place is clean (despite the lack of public bins) and crowded. The weather here is better than I have imagined although I have yet to experience the summer heat.

I am looking forward to

staying at a ryokan, climbing Mount Fuji (maybe), and travel to a more rural part of Japan.

What were the initial difficulties of adjusting to life in Osaka?

Language barrier. Some restaurant will only have Japanese menu (with no pictures) and I will ended up ordering the wrong things.

When I am not at work, I am

learning Japanese, casual reading, Netflix/Anime, Jogging/other form of exercises, travel around Japan or hangout with friends.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

Absolutely. Being able to provide optimal strategy to help the clients to obtain patents on important inventions feels rewarding.

What is the most important thing that working at the Firm has taught you about yourself?

The firm has taught me that I still have a lot to learn and that I'm certainly not at my limit.

What is the best thing about being a part of a global team?

Getting to know people from different parts of the globe. It's always an intriguing experience to learn about cultural differences of people from different parts of the world.

What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

Managing the workload while providing quality work is the most challenging. It is a big jump in difficulties between university and work.

What have been your three fondest leisure experiences in Japan?

So far, onsen, hiking and trying out various Japanese food.

Of all the adjectives floating in your brain, give us three that best describe your working life in Japan?

Interesting, challenging, and interactive.

What advice would you give a potential new colleague?

It is important to keep your mind open and be willing to learn from the great people in the company.
