Meet Our Talent

Jiang Yuanmeng

Foreign Attorney

“The best thing about being a part of a global team is that we always learn about the most recent news/changes regarding the IP matters in each jurisdiction. This is definitely something I had never experienced before.”

How was working in Osaka in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

Since I had never visited Osaka, or even Japan before, everything in Osaka is fresh to me. People here are very friendly and I am still enjoying my life in Osaka.

How would you describe your co-workers?

As foreign staffs, we work with Japanese staffs every day. I think we have a really good vibe with each other, especially my teammates, everyone is nice and works really hard.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

Yes. Our team helps the clients, mostly Japanese clients, for the patent/design matters in various jurisdictions outside Japan and we also provide advice for the procedures and local practice to the clients.

What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

Working with different people from different cultures is quite a challenge for me. Especially, I work for a Japanese law firm, it took me quite a few time to get used to the way a Japanese law firm operates and its pace of work.

When I am not at work, I am ...

I always seek out tasty Sichuan restaurants on the weekends. Hot pot is one of my favorite Sichuan food and Haidilao Hot Pot is the place we visit most often in Osaka.

What is the best thing about being a part of a global team?

Since we communicate with different colleagues, companies, etc., from all over the world every day. In the meantime, we also cooperate with our Japanese staffs of the Firm. We always learn about the most recent news/changes regarding the IP matters in each jurisdiction. This is definitely something I had never experienced before.

I am looking forward to

successfully get my Japanese driver’s license and start my self-drive tour in Japan.

What advice would you give a potential new colleague?

Maybe this is a new experience to most of people, just jump out of the comfort zone and enjoy it.

What is your most treasured possession that you've obtained during your stay in Japan thus far and why?

I bought a new camera. It records the landscape and my precious memories in Japan.

What three words describe the Firm best? First in English, then in your mother tongue?

Diversity, Inclusivity and Responsiveness – 多元化,包容性,及时性.
