Meet Our Talent

Alisa Matsui

Computer/EE Technology Specialist

“My co-workers are inspiring, dedicated, and resourceful. Everyone here has such a great work ethic and it motivates me to try harder to be on everyone else's level. They have taught me so much about this job and push me to put my best work forward, which I am really grateful for.”

How was living in Osaka in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

I was definitely surprised by how busy and walkable Osaka is, especially compared to the suburbs of Chiba and rural parts of America that I grew up in. That being said, I'm grateful for how close everything is and how easy it is to get from place to place here!

How would you describe your co-workers?

Inspiring, dedicated, and resourceful. Everyone here has such a great work ethic and it motivates me to try harder to be on everyone else's level. They have taught me so much about this job and push me to put my best work forward, which I am really grateful for.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

I do feel like I'm having an impact. Whenever I send emails or comments to clients, I know that I am helping them be a step closer to reaching their goals, and their responses show that they value the work that we send to them. When our clients respond positively and agree with our work, it's very rewarding!

What is your most treasured possession that you've obtained during your stay in Osaka thus far and why?

Probably my camera. I love photography and being able to capture so many of my memories and experiences in pictures (I may or may not have managed to take over 10,000 photos in a span of 3 months).

What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

For me, it is finding the "sweet spot" of explaining thoroughly, but concisely. Whether you are communicating to clients or to teammates, it's crucial to be able to explain in a matter that hits all the points you need discuss, but also doesn't obscure these said points. When I first started out, I rarely explained just the right amount, but I feel like this job has really taught me the art of communication.

When I am not at work, I am ...

playing games on my Switch and listening to music, usually at the same time. The new Zelda game came out, so a lot of my off-time has been dedicated to playing that recently. I also have curated 20+ playlists, and most of them are over 10 hours long.

What is the most important thing that working at the Firm has taught you about yourself?

That I can continue to learn and improve on a daily basis. Just when I think "I can't do it" or that maybe I can't improve any further, with a little more effort, it is possible to keep growing.

What have been your 3 fondest leisure experiences in Osaka?

- Going to Universal Studios Japan
- Walking around Osaka Castle
- Cherry blossom season at Sakuranomiya

What would you say makes someone successful at the Firm; and more specifically, what factors have made you successful at Firm?

The ability to handle large volumes of information. Not only do you have to be able to absorb all the things your seniors and teammates teach you, you will also be handling many cases at once, each with their own sets of information. As such, being organized and managing your time effectively will help you immensely.

What three words describe the Firm best?

Diligent, ambitious, reliable
勤勉な、向上心がある、頼もしい
